Artist Statement

   The techniques in glass intrigue and challenge me, continually forcing me to expand past my

    comfort zone, to enter areas of unknown territory which excite and terrify me at the same time.

    To take a piece of glass and manipulate it’s structure, it’s whole being, is truly fascinating to

    Me, and then, discovering the end result which is almost always an eye-opener!

Biography

Kirei is a glass fusing artist living near Bloomfield, Prince Edward County, ON.  Kireicreates her designs using various techniques such as sandblasting and etching onto glass, twisting and stirring molten glass and incorporating the vitrograph technique into her work.    Kirei is constantly creating new pieces by interchanging techniques,  pushing the traditional technique in different directions or creating her own techniques. It is important to her to keep exploring and expanding her knowledge with each piece created.

                                      

Kirei’s studio/gallery is situated in her 1880’s renovated barn called LaLaLand Glass Studio and is open to the public during the summer.  She is part of The Arts Trail and the PEC Studio Tour.  In 2013 she will be returning to Westport’s studio tour and is also a guest at Rednersville Road ST and Discovery Tour, North Gower.  Her jewellery is at Quinn’s of Tweed Gallery.  Kirei spent many years attending arts and craft shows across Ontario.

 

Kirei received a grant in 2010 from PELA CFDC for her gallery in Bloomfield.  TV and Print credits include:”County Weekly News”, the “County” magazine, TV commercial for Signature’s 25th Anniversary Christmas show at the Congress Centre, featured on CTV’s Regional Contact.  In 2007 Kirei won Best Booth award at Home County Folk Festival in London, ON
