Biography

Dan is a landscape painter who grew up on Manitoulin and currently resides in Little Current. Growing up he was always fascinated with nature, the outdoors and art. Over the last few years he has begun to bring his interest in art into the outdoors, carrying paints and canvases out into the Ontario backcountry to chase interesting landscapes and light, and to bring back photos to work from during the winter months. Dan won first place in the oil category as well as the Peg Forbes award at the 2025 La Cloche Art show. 

Artist Statement

 

 I explore the Northern Ontario landscape one brushstroke at a time with a mixture of plein air painting (painting on location) and studio painting. By capturing the back country in paint, I hope to impart a sense of appreciation and respect for the natural world that surrounds us.
