Biography

Jay Favot’s art has been hailed as “captivating”, “beautifully done” and “so life-like, you feel like you are there”.  Jay has professed that he is excited to be constantly evolving. Yet, it can definitely be said that bold and unique perspectives remain a hallmark of Jay’s original paintings.  With his exciting combinations of colours, patterns, light and reflection, he elevates everyday objects and familiar natural & urban scenes, to the extraordinary.  There’s passion and dedication in every brush stroke.

Jay is driven to strive harder and better in his art every year.  His inspirations have come from a variety of sources, including  Ontario, Maritime and Quebec landscapes and city scapes, as well as taking a fresh view of the ordinary moments of life, with both people and things. “To see somebody make that connection to your art is always great”, claims the artist, “It has been a conscious effort to vary subjects and style of art over the years”.

Jay has been recognized for his artistic excellence in a number of areas.  He was featured as an “Artist to Collect” in the prestigious Arabella, Canadian Art, Architect and Design Magazine (2017).  He was awarded the Committee’s Choice Award at the 40thAnnual La Cloche Art Show for his painting “Apple Blossoms” and was  the recipient of the  Peg Forbes Memorial Award at the 39th Annual La Cloche Art Show for his painting “The Crack”.
As well, his painting "Above Killarney" was awarded First Place People's Choice Award at the 2016 "In the Spirit of Tom Thomson and the Group of Seven" exhibition at the prestigious Perivale Gallery in Spring Bay, Ontario.
Jay’s artwork can be found in many private and corporate collections in Canada.
